The Laws of Lifetime Growth, Always Make Your Future Bigger Than Your Past Review

The Laws of Lifetime Growth
Always Make Your Future Bigger Than Your Past
By: Dan Sullivan and Catherine Nomura

Growth is a fundamental desire of all human beings.
Growth is at the root of everything that gives us a feeling of accomplishment, satisfaction, meaning, and progress.

Sometimes growing pains can feel like failure-and sometimes failure is a part of growth.

Here are the Ten Laws of Your Lifetime Growth:

Always Make Your Future Bigger Than Your Past.
Always Make Your Learning Greater Than Your Experience.
Always Make Your Contribution Bigger Than Your Reward.
Always Make Your Performance Greater Than Your Applause.
Always Make Your Gratitude Greater Than Your Success.
Always Make Your Enjoyment Greater Than Your Effort.
Always Make Your Cooperation Greater Than Your Status.
Always Make Your Confidence Greater Than Your Comfort.
Always Make Your Purpose Greater Than Your Money.
Always Make Your Questions Bigger Than Your Answers.

When you choose to grow by acting in alignment with the ten laws, opportunity naturally comes to you, ideas and resources flow to you, and people with the right skills, passions, visions, and connections tend to show up to help you.

Because of this connection, growth always has a ripple effect.

So one of the great benefits of living in alignment with the laws is that, as we grow in order to make our own lives richer and more meaningful, we also make a significant positive impact on the world. This contribution brings us rewards-encouragement, resources, and opportunities-that in  turn help us continue to pursue more growth. Because of this, the more you grow, the easier and more enjoyable it becomes to keep growing.

You might think, so much has to change before this can be true, and you are right.

A world like this is created when more and more individuals like  you make the decesion to grow: taking the laws to heart, deciding to live this way for their own reasons, making their own unique contributions, and providing examples for others along the way.

Beyond Illusions of Yourself and the World around you

Take a glimpse of the book Beyond Illusions: The Magic of Positive Perception by Brad Barton

And have a different perception of yourself and the world around you.

"The work we do "in" ourselves is much more significant than any work we can ever do "on" ourselves."

"The most important change we can make is our perception of who we are, the value we bring to the world and our perception of our own attractiveness."

Self-image.
"When they saw themselves as more attractive, they tended to project a better feeling about who they were and literally became more attractive."

"If we are anxious to improve our circumstances - if we are anxious to improve ourselves - we must be willing to improve our perception of ourselves."

"Circumstance which appear disastrous and desperate-even hopeless-could be more constructively perceived as opportunities for greatness."

"This is not just about being positive this is about being causative. A causative agent is someone who creates or causes positive change through the deliberate use of the power of positive perception."

Eight Stages of Change From the book "It's Time to Move On!

Eight Stages of Change
From the book "It's Time to Move On!
By: Ralph Bruksos

Hypothermia
Even though we think we're doing just fine, we actually have not done anything significantly different to improve our lives for quite a while.
It's time to stretch. It's time to set new objectives. It's time to expand our horizons, to push beyond where we are now.

Discomfort
Discomfort is part of the price of success.
They are willing to look awkward, and maybe even silly in order to move on to new levels of accomplishments.

Analysis
People sometimes don't want to change because it would mean admitting they were wrong.
Until we start looking at and changing our own attitudes and actions, we remain stuck in place.
When you blame others, you give up your power to change.

Exploring
If I had put my mind to it, I could have really achieved something.
Keep both eyes open. Keep both eyes on the target.
I learned that I cab hit almost any target when I keep my eyes open and focused on it.

Experimenting
Current brain research shows that, when we fantasize a situation, our brain doesn't assume it is fantasy. It thinks it's real and will cause bodily reactions consistent with the fantasized situation.
We're striving to create a new reality-first in our minds and second in our lives.

Decision
Decide to face what you fear and you will change.
To reach our full potential, we must find a way through our fear. At some point in time, we must plant our feet and confront it. Once we do, the fear will fade.
We must renew the decision to confront out fears-on a regular basis.

Commitment
When a change comes, whether we choose it or it's thrust upon us, we sometimes push back against it and try to figure out ways to revert to the way we were. This resistance is often subconscious. When we persist, the change takes root in our lives and we blossom.

Recycling
Recycling is a necessary and natural part of the change process. It's how we "take our temperature"-how we figure out where we have come from, where we are, and where we're going. It's how we rejuvenate and begin the process again.

Mindset The New Psychology of Success

Mindset, the new psychology of success.
By: Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.

A view from the two mindsets
How we can learn to fulfill our potential?

Which one do you have?

Fixed Mindset - Intelligence is static.

Leads to a desire to look smart and therefore a tendency to...

  • avoid challenges
  • get defensive or give up easily
  • see effort as fruitless or worse
  • ignore useful negative feedback
  • feel threatened by the success of others

Growth Mindset - Intelligence can be developed.

Leads to a desire to learn and therefore a tendency to...

  • embrace challenges
  • persist in the face of setbacks
  • see effort as the path to mastery
  • learn from criticism
  • find lessons and inspiration in the success of others

Change can be tough, but I've never heard anyone say it wasn't worth it.
But people who've changed can tell you how their lives have been enhanced.

Did changing to a growth mindset solve all my problems? No. But I know that I have a different life because of it - a richer one. And that I'm a more alive, courageous, and open person because of it.

Believe
Prosper your mind, prosper your money.

Unless you change your emotional beliefs about money, you'll never become rich.
You'll gravitate towards what you subconsciously want, and avoid what you subconsciously do not want.
The seed of prosperity will grow to the size of your belief.
If you want to prosper, you need to believe that you can prosper.
